Ethiopia arrests 43 anti-Graziani statute protesters in Addis Ababa

 

Dr. Yacob Hailemariam, a retired professor of business law at Norfolk State University and former Senior Prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda
Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) – Ethiopian police arrested prominent opposition leaders and activists in the capital Addis Ababa today.
According to our sources, former opposition leader Dr. Yacob Hailemariam, Semayawi Party chairman, Eng. Yilkal Getnet and his deputy Sileshi Feyissa are among the detainees.
“What’s happening today is outrageous and unbelievable” said Ethiopian human rights activist, Prof. Mesfin Woldemariam. “officials could have deny the application for protest instead of detaining citizens after the incident” he added.
