The former Oromia region president and Minster of Civil Service , Junedin Sado, is seeking an asylum in Kenya. He was president of the Oromia Region from 28 October 2001 until 6 October 2005 when he was replaced by Abadula Gemeda. He subseq...uently was appointed Transport and Communication Minister, which is the office he was holding when Prime Minister Meles Zenawi moved him to the Science and Technology Ministry October 2008. Following the 2010 general election, Junedin was appointed Minister of Civil Service.

He has been at odds with the TPLF leadership at different times but his rift with the administration came in to light even more when his wife ,Habiba Mohammed, was listed among 29 Muslim activists accused of criminal conspiracy to commit unspecified acts of terrorism — charges that could attract the death penalty in October 2012
