Many injured as police and residents clash in Afar

A young man in Afar has been reportedly killed by Issa people in Gewane, Afar in Eastern Ethiopia on June 27, 2013. The residents of the town, who went to the local police camp carrying the body of the deceased to express their frustration, were shot by the police leaving two wounded. The police had ordered the protesters to leave the area but the residents said they won’t return until their questions were answered. It is not yet confirmed if there were any dead during the shooting. One of the wounded was shot at his stomach while the other was shot on the head.
Federal police officers, who insisted to conduct a door to door search for weapons, had also clashed with Woreda police officers.
