Our reports of growth are false: Somali Region President

ESAT News May 11, 2013

Abdi Mohammed, the President of the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia, told members of the Region’s ruling Party and officials of the Cabinet that the reports they submit to the Government as if the Region has developed was full of lies only aimed at passing evaluations.

The President with emotions said “The reports presented as if we grew and reached better status are false. We are not sure if the report that you see in my hand is at all true. The same is with the previous reports. The reports are submitted only for the sake of evaluations”.

“We have reported that 10 million animals have been vaccinated, but the Head of the Farming Bureau cannot confirm that. There is no evidence that let alone 10 million, 500,000 have been vaccinated. Don’t the people see when this many are vaccinated?” said Abdi confirming that the reports were all false.

The President also condemned that Addis Abeba Radio and Radio Fana don’t report about Ogaden region while they do with the rest of the country. He said the Radio stations should have interviewed the zonal and Woreda heads.

Abdi said that officials of the Regional State do even report their daily routines to the government.
In a secret video clip that ESAT aired last week, the President was heard as saying to the Region’s clan chiefs “Tigreans don’t want Amhara to come to power. They want to arm us and lead the Country with us but we considered them as Amharas and began firing at them. Amara and Tigre, Amara and Oromo will never reconcile and cooperate thus we need to stand with Tigreans and stop lumping the Tigres, Oromos and Amharas together as Amhara.”
Although ESAT phoned the President of the Region, we were unable as his Secretary said he was in a meeting.
